Chikankari care guide

Hand Wash

  • Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent.
  • Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the embroidered areas to prevent damage.
  • Do not soak for an extended period. This can lead to color bleeding and damage the delicate threads.

Press, Don't Wring

  • Gently press the water out of the garment; do not wring it.

  • Lay the garment flat on a clean, dry towel to air dry.
  • Avoid hanging Chikankari garments, as the weight of the water can distort the fabric and embroidery.

Ironing

  • If needed, iron the garment on a low setting, preferably while it's still slightly damp.
  • Place a cloth over the Chikankari work to protect it from direct heat.

Storage

  • Store Chikankari garments in a cool, dry place.
  • Avoid hanging them for long periods, as this can lead to stretching.
